Girl injured after crash in Dover Road, Folkestone

A girl has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car this morning.

The teenager is thought to have been walking on her way to school when she was knocked down just before 8am in Dover Road, Folkestone.

She was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford as a "priority patient", the ambulance service confirmed.

Rich Airey, spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance service, said: "We were called to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle in Dover Road. It was reported as a car.

"Two ambulance crews attended the scene to treat a teenage girl who has since been taken in to the William Harvey Hospital as a priority patient.

"She suffered injuries but was conscious."

The girl is thought to be aged approximately 16 and the full extent of her injuries was not yet clear, Mr Airey added.

Police were called to the scene but no arrests were made.
