Fire crews called after pile of rubbish caught fire in Alkham Valley Road, near Hawkinge this after

Firefighters have this afternoon put out a large rubbish fire in fields next to a busy road.

Crews were called shortly after 2pm when a "large quantity of rubbish" was seen alight off the Alkham Valley Road near Hawkinge.

They were on the scene for around 35 minutes.

But nobody was reported injured and the cause is currently unknown.
