An Indian restaurant that left Folkestone after more than 40 years in business will be replaced with an ice cream parlour.
The New Delhi Tandoori Restaurant in Sandgate Road, closed its doors for good on Saturday, April 1 following the manager and owner Abdul Aziz’s decision to retire.
People will still be able to have food from New Delhi delivered to their door as Mr Aziz’s family have set up a takeaway alternative.
A notice in the window says: “Over the next few weeks New Delhi will be re-branding to New Delhi Online.
“We have a new menu coming soon”.
But in just over a week since the restaurant ceased trading, the old window stickers have been scrubbed off and new notices say an ice cream cafe is due to arrive.
Missy Moo’s, an eat-in or take away restaurant, says it is “coming soon” to the premises, but a specific date has not been given.
It is set to serve Italian gelato, coffee, desserts ice cream, crepes, doughnuts and ice cream.
