“Lazy” parking at a Kent supermarket has sparked a huge debate online – with people suggesting the drivers are not at fault.
Two motorists were ridiculed on the Facebook page S***e Parking Watch UK this week after leaving their vehicles outside the white lines at Sainsbury’s in Folkestone town centre.
The page, which has more than 180,000 followers, says they are “here to shame bad parking and laugh at the people who try to defend it”.
A blue Vauxhall and a grey 4x4 can be seen parked diagonally across the spaces in the multi-storey car park.
However, followers of the page have rushed to the drivers’ defence and suggested it is the lines that are “painted at the wrong angle”.
The post has sparked more than 140 comments, including from Sharon Willis who thinks the cars could get “trapped” if they parked correctly in the space.
“That's not bad parking, the spaces look bad,” she said.
“One car could get trapped between a wall and another parked car.
“I wouldn't park in a space like that.”
Dianne Tate added: “Parking is correct it’s the lines that are wrong.
“If they parked correctly they would struggle to get out of space.”
But not everyone is in agreement and many still believe the two drivers should have parked in the spot correctly.
Mattie Reilly said: “One word. Laziness.”
Cassie Davies went on: “I’ve parked in this space loads of times.
“It’s no issue for anyone with a licence.”
Sainsbury’s has been contacted for a comment.
