Emergency services respond to light aircraft crash in field in Postling near Hythe

A light aircraft has crashed into a field.

Police were called to the remote village of Postling between Folkestone and Ashford at 2pm to reports the plane had come down.

Fire crews and ambulance services are also at the scene said to be near Pent Farm Airfield.

It is not known how many people were on board or if anyone has been hurt.

A police spokesman said: "At 2.05pm on Sunday, July 21 Kent Police was notified that a light aircraft had crashed in a field in Postling near Hythe.

"Officers are currently at the scene with partner agencies including the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been informed."

Five fire engines were sent to the scene along with a foam unit, water unit and other specialist vehicles.

An AAIB spokesperson said: “The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is aware of a light aircraft accident near Folkestone, Kent and we are sending investigators to the scene.”
