A 42-year-old has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after attacking a man in Folkestone who later died in hospital.
Mark Green set upon Anthony Armstrong in New Street during the afternoon of October 6 last year.
Officers attended the scene along with paramedics and an air ambulance shortly after 1.15pm.
Mr Armstrong was airlifted to a specialist London hospital in a critical condition but died days later.
Initially Green, of East Cliff, and Ruben Smith, 18, of Foord Road South, Folkestone, were charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
But subsequently the pair were charged with manslaughter, with Green pleading guilty at Canterbury Crown Court today.
Appearing in the dock, Smith, who denies manslaughter, was refused bail before his trial on April 6.
Flowers were later left at the scene in New Street.
Speaking shortly after the incident, a police spokesman said: "Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are continuing to urge anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage of an altercation in New Street, or who has any other information to call 01843 222273, quoting reference 46/193708/22."
