A man has died following a shooting in Folkestone.
The victim, named locally as landlord Joe Daniels, was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident at the Red Cow pub in Foord Road just before 11.30am.
The 58-year-old's next of kin have been notified and a firearm was seized at the scene by police.
Neighbours have described the victim as a "lovely bloke" who was a larger than life character always keen to knock on their door inviting them to parties.
The pub - which was built in 1682 and is Folkestone's second oldest - is said to be a thriving business in the heart of the community where everybody knows each other.
Witnesses counted between 10 to 12 emergency vehicles.
Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call the appeal line on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
