Man charged after armed police called to Cheriton Road, Folkestone

A man has been charged following a 'shooting' in Folkestone.

Armed police rushed to Cheriton Road, near to the recently re-opened Morrisons superstore, yesterday at 10.30am after a man was seen carrying a weapon.

Shots were reportedly fired and a car was damaged, with 'two indents' left in its bodywork.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital suffering with shock.

Shortly after, a man was arrested in nearby Taylor Road by armed police, and a BB gun and two knives were seized by officers.

The man was taken into custody.

Now, Stuart Regan, 39, of Cheriton Road, Folkestone has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a bladed article and criminal damage.

He is due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court today.
