Police hunting man who attempted to mug two men in Folkestone

Two men were the victims of a series of muggings, which resulted in one being taken to hospital.

A 70-year-old was sitting on a bench in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, when suddenly a man approached him and demanded money.

The perpetrator assaulted the pensioner so severely that he was taken to hospital for treatment.

It happened at 8pm on Monday.

One hour later, there was another attempted robbery of a man in his 60s in Pleydell Gardens.

That is under 10 minutes walk from the scene of the initial crime in Sandgate Road.

The suspect is described as a white man with a tanned complexion, with brown hair and a thin build.

He was believed to be around 6ft and was wearing a white top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone who might have witnessed either incident or have CCTV covering Sandgate Road or Pleydell Gardens is asked to call police on 01843 222289, quoting either 46/91323/19 (Sandgate Road) or 46/91339/19 (Pleydell Gardens), or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
