A cyclist took on a gruelling 30-mile ride - only to be stuck in the lift in his flats when he came home last night.

The rider, in his 40s, was trapped for 20 minutes between floors at Clifton Gardens, Folkestone, when he returned from his exercise.

He alerted his wife on a mobile phone and she in turn called the fire brigade.
A crew from the Folkestone station was called out at 8pm.

They freed him by turning off the lift’s power and using its lowering mechanism to bring him level with the next floor down.
