A man was knocked to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the head in a vicious street attack by a gang of four men.
The assault took place in Folkestone town centre and the group made off with the man's wallet.
He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but they are not thought to be life threatening.
It took place just before midnight last Friday night near to the Hinds jewellers in the Sandgate Road precinct.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the brutal unprovoked attack.
A man and a woman were reportedly walking along the street when they saw four men described as white and aged about 19 years old.
It was reported that two of the men spoke to the woman while the other two knocked the victim to the ground and kicked his head several times.
They then stole the man's wallet and ran away.
Police said the victim, who is in his late teens, has been released from hospital.
Det Sgt Lewis Tompsett, who is investigating, said: "This was an unprovoked attack that left a man requiring hospital treatment.
"We would be keen speak to anybody who was in the area who witnessed the robbery or has any information that may help us with our enquiries."
Police are not linking the incident with another unprovoked gang attack near the Three Hills Sports Park last month.
