A driver escaped unhurt after his car somersaulted in a crash.

It had flipped onto its roof and landed back on its wheels in a two-car smash.

This happened at 7.30 last night just outside the Roundhill Tunnels near Folkestone.

Folkestone Fire Station watch manager Vic Thorogood : “The car had flipped over and got back onto its wheels.

“It was fortunate that nobody was injured and there was also no fire. Nobody even had to be cut free.”

Police and paramedics were also called to the accident, which was on the London-bound carriageway just north of the tunnel.

Two fire engines from the Folkestone station attended and helped other emergency services deal with the aftermath.

The driver of the car that had flipped over was a middle aged man.

The road was closed on just one lane for 45 minutes. Police remained on the scene until 10.15pm to manage the traffic flow.
