Man and woman charged with murder after Folkestone flat attack

Two people have been charged with murder after a man died from serious injuries following an attack in a block of flats.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the assault at Spencer House in Coolinge Lane, Folkestone, at about 8.50pm on Sunday.

The victim, who was in his 60s and has been named locally as Paul Wakefield, was rushed to hospital, where he died the following day.

This morning detectives have said 31-year-old Shane Myles, of Rock Avenue in Gillingham, and 36-year-old Kayleigh Halliday, from Crown Road in Sittingbourne, are due to appear in court accused of his murder.

A police spokesman said: "We are investigating and arrested man and a woman on the evening of Sunday, January 2.

"Myles and Halliday have since been charged with murder.

"The two suspects, who are known to the deceased, are due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today."
