A distinctive sign on Folkestone Harbour Arm has been given a makeover in time for Halloween.

The large 'Folkestone' lettering facing East Cliff has been replaced with the word 'skeletons'.

Reader Emma Jones brought this to our attention and commented: "People are posting about something weird going on with the Folkestone sign.

"It looks like some surprise creative Folkestone public art thing for Halloween.

"I think they were just testing it this morning."

The lettering of the replacement word is in the same style of the original, with a man raising a leg and arm to form the letter K.

It is not quite an anagram but both words use almost exactly the same letters.

The images have been seen on the Facebook pages Folkestone Residents Group and We Love Folkestone.

They were shared on those pages by Tara Nevill who commented: "Bit of an odd one, did anyone notice this on the harbour arm this morning?"

Others on the page spoke of their approval of it but Simon Read commented: "I saw some workmen testing some of it last night."
