Residents angered as Affinity Water works sees torrent pouring out into Canterbury Road, Folkestone for days
17:06, 19 May 2023
A water leak pouring out into a main road for three days has sparked anger among residents.
Video shows water gushing from a pipe in Canterbury Road, Folkestone yesterday while Affinity Water carry out works on the site.
Resident Aaron Cook has been left feeling frustrated by the scenes and has branded the situation a “great waste of water”.
“I saw the water flowing at that speed for a good four hours yesterday,” he said.
“A woman that was passing informed me that it was exactly the same the day before.
“I just feel it is a great waste of water, surely it could be recycled in some way rather than just letting it run into the drains.”
Frustrated fellow residents shared their own grievenaces on Facebook and agreed with the 34-year-old.
People said they believe not enough is being done to fix the issue as hundreds of litres of water spills from the pipes.
One person said: “A disgusting waste of water that we are all paying for. Why isn’t there anyone there working on it?”
Another added: “We will have a hose pipe ban in a few months.”
Affinity Water has been approached for a comment.
