Impressive new artwork was created on a Kent beach this morning.

The design, titled Connected Beach Circles, was etched into the sand at Folkestone's Sunny Sands beach.

It was created by Angus Cameron, James Paul Smith and Ben Braudy, all part of East Cliff Creatives.

The trio started at 6.30am and it took them a total of two and a half hours to complete the beach art, using a wide range of tools.

Ben said: "Our first beach art for 2019! Couldn't have asked for a better morning."

Angus added: "We used an assortment of garden tools including rakes and garden hoes and a little contraption Ben put together to create our prefect circles.

"We tested the design the night before to make sure we were ready to go to make the most of the tide window which is around four hours where the sand is dry enough to work on and before the tide comes back in."

This is not the first time the team from East Cliff Creatives have designed beach art - last year they designed pieces at both Sunny Sands and Mermaid Beach, creating patterns with the sand and stones.

They are now hoping to create more beach art over the coming months.

At the same time they are working on a separate project that will see thousands of painted stones and pebbles arranged together to look like seven huge poppies.

The art will come together on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 next to the Harbour Arm in Folkestone.

The seven poppies will represent the seven months between the armistice of World War One on November 11, 1918 and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919.

Eco-friendly paint will be used to decorate the stones, which will then naturally fade over a few weeks.

The artists are now enlisting the help of children and members of the community to help paint the pebbles.

Painting workshops will be held at Folkestone Library this Saturday (May 11) between 10am-2pm and at Block67, in Tontine Street, on May 16 and May 19.
