Police release CCTV image following 'sexual offence' in Folkestone

Police investigating reports of a sexual offence in Folkestone have issued a CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist them.

The alleged crime happened at a department store in Sandgate Road at about 4.45pm last Friday.

It was reported a teenage girl was browsing with two friends when she was approached by a man who touched her on the leg.

The girls left the store and did not see him again.

Police are linking the report to two other similar incidents in which the victims were also both teenage girls.

One happened at a bus stop near the top of Sandgate Hill, Folkestone, at about 3.40pm on the same day.

The other was in Frith Road, Dover, at about 3.30pm on Friday, February 24.

Anyone who recognises the man is urged to call the appeal line on 01843 222289 quoting reference ZY/10192/17 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.

Meanwhile, police have issued safety advice for teenagers:

  • Stay alert and aware of your surroundings
  • Stick to busy, well-lit roads and avoid shortcuts through alleyways
  • If you think you are being followed, cross the road or go to a place with lots of people around
  • If a crime is committed against you, tell an adult and report it to police as soon as possible.
