Police are questioning two Polish men on suspicion of stealing a boat - which they reportedly planned to use to ESCAPE the UK.

Dover Lifeboat crews picked up the two men just off the Folkestone coast this morning.

It is thought they were attempting to row across the Channel to France when they were spotted.

Police were called shortly before 9am to reports that a boat had been taken from Folkestone.

After being returned to shore by crews from RNLI Dover, the pair were taken in for questioning by UK Border Force officers.

A spokesman for Kent Police said officers were trying to locate the owner of the boat.
