00:01, 06 June 2014
A volunteer at Kent and East Sussex Railway who threatened to kill the general manager on Facebook has been given a conditional discharge by magistrates.
Keith Brown put a message on the social media site relating to Graham Baldwin.
Brown, 50, admitted sending by public communication network an offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message or matter.
He was given a 24-month conditional discharge by Brighton magistrates and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
A restraining order was also imposed banning him from contacting Mr Baldwin or Matthew Green or going on KESR premises, including the stations.
A charge of using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence was dropped.
Brown, of Hill Close, Crowborough, was arrested at his home by Sussex police in February, this year.
Neither Mr Baldwin nor the railway wanted to comment on the matter.
