A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman in Folkestone.
The revelation comes as police launched an appeal for a key witness to come forward.
The attack took place in Payers Park, in the town centre, between 11.30pm on Tuesday, October 22 and half past midnight.
The victim, a woman in her 30s, reported that the offence was committed by a young man who may have been a teenager.
A second man of a similar age was also present, it was reported.
The victim's handbag was also stolen during the attack.
Forensic officers were pictured combing the small green space the day after the incident.
Police previously announced that a man and a woman had been arrested, but have now revealed a teenage boy has also been arrested.
All three have since been released on bail.
Officers now say following a review of available evidence they have identified a man who provided assistance to the victim before leaving the scene when medical crews arrived.
He is described as being black, in his early 20s, and around 5ft 10ins tall with a medium build.
He is believed to have been wearing a green winter coat and had hair that was short around the sides and long on top.
Det Sgt Lewis Tompsett said: "There is no suggestion this man is in any way involved in the offence but we know he helped the victim and therefore believe he may have important information that can help us progress with our enquiries.
"I would therefore encourage him to get in contact with us as soon as possible by calling us on 01303 289600 quoting 46/203464/19."
Those arrested include a 29-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy, both from Folkestone. Both were arrested on suspicion of rape.
The man has been bailed until January 24 and the boy has been bailed until January 29.
A 23-year-old woman, also from Folkestone, was also arrested on suspicion of theft following a report the victim’s handbag was stolen.
She has been released as enquiries continue.
