Red Arrows to perform in Folkestone
11:31, 05 July 2021
The beloved Red Arrows will perform their iconic display above a Kent seafront next month.
Officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, they will come to Folkestone on Sunday, August 8.
The announcement came from Folkestone and Hythe District Council.
The authority said: "We are delighted to announce that the world famous Red Arrows are due to perform their breathtaking displays above Folkestone seafront in August.
"The display team has been booked for the afternoon of Sunday 8 August - with the best views likely to be available in the area of The Leas."
The council said event planning is still under way, with more information about parking, possible road closures and advice for residents and businesses to become available shortly.
The Red Arrows team - flying distinctive hawk-fast jets - have been performing since 1965.
They have performed in Folkestone, and all over Kent, on many occasions.
In 2019, thousands of people came to the seaside town to watch the air show, which was organised as part of Armed Force's Day.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, organisers had hoped they would return in 2020.
The team took to the skies above Kent last month, opening the Battle of Britain Airshow at Headcorn, near Maidstone.
