It was previously occupied by the Brickfield Tavern Table Table, but company Whitbread, which owns several restaurant chains, has now changed it into a Cookhouse.

The firm spent more than half a million pounds renovating the interior and exterior of the building, which now boasts a new kitchen, carpets, chairs, tables and decoration.

Thirty-five members of staff are employed at the eatery, which is open seven days a week.

Food is available all day, from unlimited breakfast to dinner; dishes include oven-baked camembert, lasagne, fish and chips, burgers and grills as well as lighter dishes such as halloumi salad or mozzarella stuffed chicken.

Roasts are available too on a Sunday and children's menus are also on offer, as are themed nights.

Mel Thomas, general manager, said: "We’re so pleased to be re-opening after being closed the past few weeks.

"The place is looking fantastic and we can’t wait for customers old and new to see the new refurbishment."

There are currently 18 Cookhouse and Pubs in the country, with a second Kent one found in Gillingham.
