Five cars crash in Cheriton Road, Folkestone

An 'almighty bang' was heard this afternoon following a five car smash in Folkestone
Fire crews worked to free people from their cars after the crash in Cheriton Road, near to the junction with Cherry Garden Avenue, at 2.35pm.

Police blocked the scene of the collision and four ambulances were also present, with paramedics assessing people by the roadside.
Several people were taken to hospital, but no serious injuries have been reported.
Cristina Petinou, who lives opposite on Cheriton Road, said: "It was an almighty crash and bang, we ran out just as it had happened.
"We think a car tried to overtake a bus and may have hit the others."
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews used hydraulic cutting and spreading equipment to remove one of the car doors and worked with paramedics to remove an injured person, who was then left in the care of ambulance crews.
A police spokesman added: "Kent Police was called at around 2.35pm on Saturday, July 4 following a collision involving five cars on Cheriton Road, Folkestone, near the junction with Cherry Garden Avenue.
"Officers attended and a number of people were taken to hospital as a precaution.
"No serious injuries were reported.
"A road closure was in place until around 4.45pm."
