Stretch of A260 Canterbury Road near Hawkinge has two incidents in the same day
17:00, 17 January 2014
The A260 has today been the subject of a lot of police attention following two incidents on the stretch between Hawkinge and Canterbury.
A lorry overturned this morning near Selsted and its driver was taken to hospital suffering from a head injury - which was not thought to be life threatening.
Kent Police were called to the scene at 9.50am.
The road was closed while the lorry was recovered and re-opened at 3.45 pm.
But, in a second incident police received a call from a driver that a Lotus sports car was abandoned after leaving the road and ending up wedged between trees.
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed no RTC (road traffic collision) had been reported and that officers were unaware of anyone being injured.
They added inquiries were ongoing to trace the owner.
