Canterbury Road closed near Folkestone and Hawkinge after head-on crash

A head-on crash left one person needing hospital treatment this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene following the smash on Canterbury Road which closed the road between Folkestone and Hawkinge this afternoon.

One person was taken to hospital in Ashford after two casualties were reported to need attention.

The crash happened at around 1.40pm on the A260 as the road goes over the hill just outside Folkestone.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We sent one ambulance crew with potential patients reported as an elderly man and a young woman.

"The ambulance has left the scene with one of those patients.

"There are no reported serious injuries."

A police spokesman said earlier: "Kent Police received a report of a collision involving two vehicles in White Horse Hill, Hawkinge, at 1.37pm.

"Officers are currently at the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service following a report of injuries.

"Motorists are advised that a temporary road closure is in place to assist with vehicle recovery."

The ambulance left the scene at around 3pm and the road reopened shortly after.
