Two car crash closes A260 on the Hawkinge road in Folkestone
17:00, 11 July 2014
The main road to Hawkinge was closed causing travel chaos following a crash between two cars in Folkestone.
Police were called just after 4pm to a collision at a roundabout on the A260 in Folkestone close to the Hawkinge turn off.
The accident involving a Vauxhall Vectra and a Volkswagen Bora closed Churchill Avenue and the Roundhill tunnel and caused widespread disruption in Folkestone, with heavy traffic on Cherry Garden Avenue and Hawkinge Hill.
Officers were on the scene to manage the traffic and reopened the road at 6.40pm.
The drivers only suffered minor injuries.
A broken down lorry on the A20 outside the Roundhill Tunnel was also causing severe delays in and around the town as motorists tried to take the A260 - which was shut - as an alternative route to rejoin the A20.
It is the third crash in the area within 24 hours after a car rolled at the Roundhill Tunnel and another car flipped and burst a fire hydrant on the A20 at Stanford.
