A selection of roads in Folkestone are reportedly gridlocked with traffic as the first day of roadworks wreaks havoc.

Park Farm Road, Park Farm Industrial Estate and Churchill Avenue, all routes near the coastbound slip-road of the M20, are congested.

A set of traffic lights at the top of Park Farm Road, at the roundabout in Churchill Avenue, have been activated today.

UK Power Networks sent letters out advising its employees will be carrying out works to the underground electricity.

It started today and will last nine days, the letter said.

Motorist Tim Fuller said he had been stuck in traffic in Park Farm Road for more than an hour.

The Folkestone Academy School is also due to finish at 5pm and it is thought traffic will continue to increase.
