A late-night cafe and music venue has closed its doors for the final time.
Customers of The Eleto Chocolate Cafe in Rendezvous Street, Folkestone have expressed their sadness after it shut earlier this week.
The venue, which also has a branch in Canterbury, served coffee and food during the day and regularly hosted music events in the evening.
The Canterbury store remains open under new ownership despite the closure of the Folkestone shop.
Loyal customers of the cafe, which was known for its sweet treats and live music performances, have expressed their dismay at the news online.
Stuart Peters said: “We were at Eleto on Saturday, for a 101 comedy club and it was sold out and so good. Such a shame.”
“We've enjoyed many music events there, and some very nice hot chocolate stop-offs, too!” Caroline Jessen added.
Tina Rowley commented: “Oh no I really liked going there. Another one bites the dust!”.
Residents in Folkestone have expressed their fears over the closure of a music venue in the town.
In 2019, Folkestone was named the world's first music town, with a wide and varied selection of live music locations.
Kaymarie Preston commented: “As the world's first music town we should have many venues. I don't understand how we got that accolade.
“Surely we won't keep it if there are no venues left.”
Mary Lawes commented: “This is indeed a serious issue for towns/communities.
“If these places all close down, how do the new upcoming musicians get a chance to show their musical genius?”
The Eleto Chocolate Cafe in Folkestone has a rating of 3.5 on Trip Advisor.
In December, the Canterbury branch came under fire after inspectors discovered “very poor” cleaning standards and staff failing to wash their hands.
The popular student spot was handed a two-star hygiene rating just over a year after making headlines for an absurd marketing campaign.
Elsewhere in the town, the family-run furniture and soft furnishings company, M&S Linens in Church Street has announced its closing down sale.
The owner of the Folkestone cafe was approached for a comment.
