Firefighters were called out after the roof of a school caught fire.
It happened at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College at Sandling Road, Saltwood, just after 11.20 last night.
The fire had struck the flat roof of a science building and crews were called out when the night security guard smelt smouldering.
The school’s senior vice-principal Charles Joseph said: “The building is not even being used for teaching at present. The roof is being replaced and the old felt is being removed with a heat gun.
“We can only assumed that an area of roof heated up again overnight. But only a couple of square feet were affected.”
Two fire engines, from Folkestone and Hythe, were called out and a hosereel jet was used to put out the blaze.
Firefighters also confirmed that this had been a small incident and crews were at the scene for 45 minutes.
The school was able to function as normal this morning.
