Six sheep made a great escape across the busy A260 at Selsted on Thursday night.
It was not a farmer that came to the rescue, it was police officers, who managed to round them up and remove them from danger at about 8pm.
It emerged that they had escaped their enclosure at a nearby farm.
They were held in the car park of the Chequers Pub of Selsted until their owners arrived.
A police spokesman said: “The owners were located at a nearby farm who came straight away and collected them.
“The road was only blocked for a few minutes.”
The Kent Police RPU unit jokingly tweeted that the ring-leader was feeling “sheepish” after the ordeal.
