Exhibitions detailing the government’s plans for a huge new lorry park near Hythe to alleviate Operation Stack kick off again next week.

Members of the public are invited to the exhibitions in Folkestone, Dover and Ashford.

It will allow people to ask questions and speak to members of the project team as part of the consultation which is asking for residents’ views on the two proposed sites off the M20.

Both sites close to junction 11 at Stanford, near Hythe, were announced by Highways England last month.

Hundreds of residents visited the first of eight exhibitions in Sellindge earlier this month.

The first of next week's exhibitions will be held at Folkestone’s Civic Centre in Castle Hill Avenue on Monday, January 4 and Tuesday, January 5.

Further exhibitions will be held at The New Ashford Market on Orbital Park in Ashford on Wednesday, January 6 before moving to Dover Town Hall on Thursday, January 7.

The final events will be at Sellindge Sports and Social Club again on Monday, January 11 and at Hawkinge Community Centre the following day.

All the exhibitions will take place from 2pm to 8pm.

Highways England Asset Manager for Kent, Kevin Bown said: “Hundreds of people have already come along to our exhibitions, and we’ve received many responses to the consultation in its first two weeks.

“We’ve still got four weeks left and we would like to hear from as many people as possible. I strongly urge anyone with a view on the plans to have their say as part of the consultation.

“They can do this by our online response form, by email, by post or by attending one of our events and filling in our response form in person.”

The consultation ends on January 25.
