15:00, 14 March 2018
A suspect has denied attacking two teenage girls with a claw hammer.
Police were called to Harbour Way and Dover Road in Folkestone in the early hours of February 15 after the victims, in their late teens, were found with head injuries.
The first victim, who was assaulted in Harbour Way just after 2am, was taken to a local hospital with facial injuries.
The other, who was found in nearby Dover Road at 4.40am following a disturbance, was treated at a London hospital with serious head injuries.
Anthony Bird, 39, of Harbour Way in Folkestone denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent against both victims as well as carrying a claw hammer in a public place.
He appeared at Canterbury Crown Court to give his 'not guilty' plea today (March 14) and was remanded in custody.
Bird will face trial later this year.
