Hundreds of people dressed as Kate Bush are expected to descend on a seafront this weekend for the return of The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.

The annual event sees people don red clothing and dark hair and recreate the music video for musician Kate Bush's iconic 1978 song Wuthering Heights.

For the second year running the Folkestone Harbour Arm will host the quirky event - with organisers hoping to see at least 300 people join in.

They are now calling on everyone - including men, women, children and dogs - to register for the free event this Saturday (July 13).

A spokesman said: "The 2018 event was a winner.

"Our aim is to go bigger this year! We need you, Kate, on Folkestone Harbour Arm this Saturday.

"We are aiming for 300 Kates at least, and all are welcome- women, men, bearded men and kids.

"All you need is a red frock and to register."

Wuthering Heights was Kate Bush's debut single and remains her most successful one.

Bush was inspired after seeing the 1967 BBC adaptation of Emily Bronte's 1847 novel Wuthering Heights.

Bush wrote the lyrics in just a few hours, which are sung from the perspective of the Wuthering Heights character Catherine Earnshaw.

The song stayed at number one on the UK Singles Chart for four weeks and received widespread critical acclaim, with Pitchfork naming it the fifth greatest song of the 1970s.

The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever - which honours the song and the singer - started in 2013 with Shambush! in Brighton, which attempted to set a world record for the most number of people dressed as Kate Bush in one place.

It caught on - and now events are held around the world including Adelaide, Perth, Northern Rivers, Sydney, Tel Aviv, Montreal, Atlanta, Berlin, Uppsala, Wellington, Hobart, Amsterdam and Dublin.

Folkestone joined in the fun in 2018 for the first time and was the first town, rather than city, to take part.

The event on Saturday will kick off at 11am on the Harbour Arm where attendees can join in a Zumba warm up, a Wuthering Heights sing-along and a dance session to learn the routine.

The performance will then take place close to the Lighthouse at midday.

There will also be a prize-giving ceremony and an after party DJ set. Prizes will be awarded for best baby-bush, dog-bush and beardy-bush.

Just like last year, the performance will be filmed by a cameraman and a drone, but visitors are asked to send any videos to organisers so all the footage can be pieced together for a final film.

Other events at the Harbour Arm this weekend include The Harbour Screen, showing films Dunkirk, Inside Out, The Greatest Showman and Some Like It Hot.

Live music will come from Barbeque Boys, Soundwaves and ColRose Jazz Band.

A vintage market will also be set up in the Harbour Station.
