The victim, a man in his 70s, reports that an unknown man called at his address in Foord Road between 9am and midday on Thursday, May 6, asking to come in to check the gas and fire alarms were working.

During the visit, the victim left the man alone for a short time.

The victim then realised after the man had gone that a classic gold watch was missing from the property.

The Omega Sea Master watch is described as being more than 50 years old and includes a bracelet-style strap in nine carat gold.

The suspect is described as aged about 50, 5ft 7in, with short grey hair and greyish facial stubble.

He wore glasses, light-coloured trousers and a shirt.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary or the whereabouts of the missing watch should call police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/76568/21.
