Travellers have pitched up in a seaside town, causing problems for residents.

Complaints of anti social behaviour have been made to Folkestone and Hythe District Council after the caravans appeared in Marine Crescent.

The group were previously located in the Lower Leas car park, but moved to the new spot when officers from the police and council moved them on last week.

The new camp site can be found on land behind Marine Crescent, which is Highways land and therefore the responsibility of the Kent County Council.

One resident said: "They are causing more problems where they are now than when they were in the car park."

Reported problems include defecating in the street, dogs barking at people and children throwing items.

A spokesperson for the district council said: "We are fully aware that the travellers located in the Lower Leas car park have now relocated behind Marine Crescent in Folkestone.

"This is Highways Land and therefore it’s the responsibility of the Kent County Council traveller team to have them removed.

"There have been many complaints of anti-social behaviour and as always our advice is to report these incidents and any other concerns to the police."

"This can be done online via this link https://www.kent.police.uk/services/report-online/kent-police-online-reporting/ or by calling 101."
