Heartfelt tributes have been paid to a man who died in a car park after efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Folkestone man Matt Worsdell, 34, a former Pent Valley pupil, collapsed at the Lower Leas car park on Tuesday night, sparking a huge emergency response.

Police and paramedics spent hours at the scene trying to save the man, who had reportedly collapsed.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.39pm on Tuesday 13 September to reports of concern for the welfare of a man in Lower Sandgate Road, Folkestone.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the man was declared deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and details will be passed onto the coroner's office."

An ambulance service spokesman added: "Ambulance crews in one car and two ambulances attended the scene following reports a man had collapsed.

"Efforts to resuscitate him proved unsuccessful and he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene."

Floral tributes and candles have been left at the car park and many of his friends will be having a drink to mark his life, tomorrow night.

People have been paying their respects to Mr Worsdell on Facebook.
