Would-be thieves have caused £200 worth of damage to a cinema poster frame.
Now managers at the Silver Screen in Guildhall Street, Folkestone are appealing for witnesses.
The crooks gained access to the porch area behind the gate of the main entrance and wrecked the frame, breaking the covering acrylic shatter-proof glass.
A spokesman said: “During what appeared to be the attempted theft of a Hunger Games: Mockingjay poster, the metal frame was bent and the Plexiglass was smashed, causing £200 worth of damage. The poster was destroyed in the process.”
It happened between 11pm on Thursday and 9am yesterday. The damage has since been repaired.
The poster is for the war science fiction film Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 , which has been showing at the cinema since Wednesday and screenings continue until December 3.
It got its world premier in Berlin on November 4.
Management want anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious around the cinema entrance on Thursday night/Friday morning, or have any information connected to the incident, to call the police.
They should dial 101, quoting reference number ZY/37606/15 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously at www.crimestoppers-uj.org.
