Lydd’s Bradley Ray was back in the World Superbike Championship points at Assen.

Yamaha Motoxracing racer Ray finished 15th in race one at the Cathedral of Speed in the Netherlands, doubling his tally for the season after opening his account in Australia in February. He sits 23rd in the standings.

A wet Superpole session ended with Ray 20th on the grid. Earlier rain had stopped just before lights out for race one, but the track was still wet so starting on dry tyres was an early struggle.

However as the laps passed by Ray was increasingly fast - despite having to complete a long lap penalty received at the Barcelona round - until his progress was stopped by a red flag seven laps from the end.

The Superpole race was not as fruitful, Ray finishing 20th, but he made up three places from the same position in race two to finish his weekend in 17th.

“I’m quite pleased with my race,” said Ray after race one.

“We made changes to the bike that seemed effective, but the track conditions were very difficult, and I also had to complete a long lap penalty!”

However he could not hide his disappointment after race two and hopes the long break until the next event in Italy is enough time to improve the bike’s speed.

“Definitely not an easy weekend, not for me or the team,” Ray said.

“The results don’t reflect our efforts or the work we’re doing right now. We have six weeks in which to find some solutions to our problems and arrive in Misano stronger and more competitive.”

The next round takes place on June 14-16.
