Folkestone boss Neil Cugley admitted out of sorts Invicta deserved nothing from their derby defeat at Hythe on Sunday.

Cugley's side led at the break through Ian Draycott's penalty but had ridden their luck for long spells and goals from Frankie Sawyer and Alfie May in the final 25 minutes condemned the visitors to just a fourth defeat of the campaign, their first in eight games and end a run of five wins without conceding in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Cugley said: "We didn't deserve anything, they dominated us really, which was disappointing. I didn't think that was a Folkestone performance at all."

Sawyer and May were joined up-top for the hosts by Hythe debutant Jack Harris and Cugley admitted: "Cor, that's not a bad front three, is it? Harris is a good player, Sawyer has been around and the May lad was everywhere.

"Let's give credit to them. (Clive Cook) has got in some very good players. They are not Mickey Mouse players and they are not cheap - their chairman has backed him.

"They have got some good players in and have got a good side now. If they had that side from the start of the season I don't think they would be far away (from the title) at all."

Cugley claimed Reachfields could become a fortress, adding: "It's a hard pitch, it's small, not that easy and it's a real difficult place to come.

"We obviously missed (suspended captain) Liam Friend, he's a good captain and leader at the back. We missed him but we just weren't at the races. I think a few of the younger lads, too many, went missing.

"I feel sorry for the coaches sometimes really. we told them to do the right things - get tight to their midfield and they never did that and that's how they got the ball out.

"Things like that frustrate you, when you talk about something but don't take it into the game.

"The only time we really played was when we played it through and their keeper made a great save - that would have been 2-0 at a really important time. We didn't deserve anything though."
