Luke Wanadio has turned his loan stay with promotion-chasing Folkestone from National League South Dartford into a permanent one.

The winger’s loan spell at Cheriton Road had expired but Wanadio is now set to stay with the fifth-placed Isthmian Premier team for the foreseeable future.

“He has signed today, his loan had run out,” Folkestone manager Neil Cugley said.

“I’m pleased with that. He gives us something different - direct pace.

“He was very unlucky not to get a penalty on Saturday (during their 1-0 home win over Bognor Regis).

“He seems to be enjoying it and the fans like him.”

Since joining Invicta in late January on an initial one-month loan, Wanadio has played seven times, scoring four goals in that time - including his first hat-trick in their 7-0 victory at Potters Bar.

Former Bromley and Aldershot winger Wanadio had made six starts and six substitute appearances for Steve King’s Darts this season, prior to the move.

Last week during an interview with the club, Darts manager King said: "Luke wanted to play games.

"We didn't feel we would have the emergence we have had of Danny Leonard, he has been outstanding for the majority of the season so far - he's dipped in and out of form but, largely, he has been good.

"And Luke found it difficult to get into the side so he wanted to go out and play games, which I understand. I get that totally.

"He has gone in and done really well at Folkestone and the loan comes to an end now, but I think they have done a deal with us that we are happy with - and they're going to take him for the rest of the season.

"I wish Luke all the best."

Folkestone host strugglers East Thurrock in the league on Tuesday before visiting Kingstonian, who are eighth, this weekend.

Midfielder Scott Heard (hamstring) is set to miss Invicta’s midweek match but may be fit to return on Saturday.
