It was inevitable that Ian Draycott should find the back of the net on Tuesday night.

On his 100th appearance for Folkestone Invicta, the striker scored twice to help his side beat Whyteleafe 3-0 and go 16 points clear at the top of Ryman League Division 1 South.

Draycott has been prolific ever since joining the club in 2014 and his midweek double at the Fullicks Stadium means he's now scored 71 goals in less than two season with Folkestone.

Draycott said: "The fact I've played 100 games already, in a season and three-quarters, is a big thing.

"It gives me confidence that the manager’s got confidence in me and hopefully I can carry on repaying him with goals."

Draycott now has 28 for the season but he said: "I’m due a few more goals in one game. I keep getting ones and twos but I’d like to get a few more.

"We’ve got 10 games to go and we’re top of the league so I want to get as many as I can."

Draycott has only missed one league game all season and it was a similar story in 2014-15.

He said: "It was quite funny that when I was at Maidstone a few seasons ago, I had a couple of problems with my ankles, missed a few games and got the tag that I was injury-prone.

"Before that, I’d never been injured, played 50 games a season since I was 17 and then one season I’m injury-prone.

"But I feel like I’m over them, I’m back playing 50 games a season and I’m doing all right."

Draycott should have completed a hat-trick on Tuesday as Folkestone eased past Whyteleafe to make it 10 home wins on the bounce.

He said: "We could almost come in disappointed that we didn’t get more and send a message out to everyone that we’re not taking our foot off the gas.

"We haven’t had a big score this season and if there’s anything we should have improved on, it’s that final bit. Whether we did take our foot off because we were 2-0 up, there were a few more goals out there, that’s for sure.

"We’ve got quite a few games still to play and our aim is to win every game.

"We feel we can get better but if we keep playing the way we did on Tuesday night, I’m sure we’ll be happy."
