Leading scorer Ian Draycott wants to stay at Folkestone Invicta long beyond the end of this season.

Draycott, who joined Invicta from Leatherhead last summer, has already scored 29 goals in 2014/15 and he's on course for the most prolific season of his career.

The striker has endured a rather nomadic existence in recent years since leaving hometown club Bedford Town to move south.

But after impressing in flashes for Lewes, Maidstone and the Tanners, Draycott is keen to settle down at the Fullicks Stadium.

He said: "I hope I can stay longer at Folkestone than some of my other clubs. I’ve found a club to settle down with and I can see myself being there for a number of years.

"I’m pleased that I’ve been able to get back into the goals and back playing in a position that suits me.

"It’s something I spoke about with a few clubs (in the summer) because it was important to me. Neil Cugley said he was going to play with a two."

Draycott scored plenty of goals alongside Paul Booth, before he left to join Tunbridge Wells, and he's now forming good links with recent signings Richard Atkins and Ashley Miller.

As for his running total of 29, he said: "It probably is better than I expected, coming to a new club.

"In the last couple of years, I haven’t scored as many as I did previously before I moved down to Kent. My priority was just to score 10 before Christmas and 10 after."

As for the team, he added: "Folkestone’s a good club. They’ve been around the play-offs for a few seasons and now the club’s in a position where they’re happy to take the next step.

"It’s a young squad with bits of experience. Plenty of the players have played a lot at this level and in the league above.

"We’ve got a couple of new signings so there’s a bit of competition and that’ll give us the extra 10% we need to get over the line."
