Andy Drury has rejoined Folkestone as a player-coach.

The 39-year-old midfielder played a part in Chatham Town’s title success this season as they won Isthmian South East.

He’ll now be up against them in the Isthmian Premier after returning to the club where he played in 2021/22.

Since his last spell at Cheriton Road he’s managed at Whitstable and Margate before spending the second half of the past campaign as a player with Chats. His last game for them was in a Kent Senior Cup Final defeat against Margate.

Drury feels he still has more to give as a player, adding experience to a squad that have seen some of their senior players depart this summer. The new man has played from the Championship down, with former teams including Ipswich and Luton.

Joint invicta boss Micheal Everitt said: “He’s a player who still has the quality and is as fit as he’s ever been.

“His experience and knowledge of the game will be a real asset to us both on and off the pitch.”

Speaking to the club’s Invicta TV channel, Drury said: “I’m focusing mainly at the moment on getting myself fit and giving my opinions on what Edgy (Roland Edge) and Mev (Everitt) ask me on.

“It’s been a couple of busy years. I really enjoyed my time at the club a year ago, it’s a good club, good people around and good support. For me I am coming back for a season at least. Hopefully, I can give it a good go playing and also coaching as well.

“I can be there to give my opinion to the guys and try and help the club have a good season and getting Folkestone as high up the table as possible.

“We are going a little bit younger this year with a few players that have left - a few players who have come in are younger - so my experience might help.”

Folkestone have added a friendly fixture at National South Maidstone (Tuesday, July 25) to their schedule.
