CURRENT England women’s rugby captain Catherine Spencer will be opening Folkestone RFC’s extended and refurbished clubhouse and pitches this coming Sunday.
A former Folkestone junior and founder member of Folkestone ladies, Spencer now plies her trade for Worcester and led England to the Six Nations and European Championship titles earlier in the year.
The redevelopment cost around £940,000, with the club raising £250,000.
The rest of the funds came from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, National Sports Foundation and KCC.
Following the opening, the club’s annual Spitfire Tournament will take place, with 16 teams set to compete.
