Many of the results in the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round matched the miserable weather on Saturday.
A last-gasp goal knocked out Isthmian Premier Folkestone 2-1 away to Walton Casuals, of the Southern Premier South.
Josh Vincent’s header from a Sammy Moore free-kick cancelled out Adam Coombes’ eighth-minute goal for Walton but, with the tie seemingly destined for a penalty shoot-out, Coombes struck the winner in stoppage time.
It was an afternoon to forget for Matt Longhurst and his Ramsgate players as they were stuffed 8-1 at Enfield Town.
Former Dover and Ebbsfleet forward Billy Bricknell netted a hat-trick for the hosts, who led 5-0 a minute into the second half.
That tally also included a brace for Lyle Della-Verde and a goal from Neville Nzembela.
Joshua Ajayi pulled one back for Ramsgate just before the hour but three goals in the last eight minutes confirmed Enfield’s superiority. Josh Urquhart, Lewis Taaffe and a Bricknell penalty rounded off the scoring.
Royston Town reached the quarter-finals last season and they eased to a deserved 2-0 home win over Hythe on Saturday thanks to a first-half brace from Brandon Adams.
Zak Ansah gave Herne Bay an eighth-minute lead at Hitchin Town but the host rallied to run out 3-1 winners.
Lewis Barker levelled before half-time and goals from Alex Marsh and Callum Stead at either end of the second half ended Bay’s hopes.
Sittingbourne’s interest ended following a 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat at Barking.
The sides had drawn 1-1 after 90 minutes, Kane Rowland’s first-half effort for the Brickies cancelling out Isaac Westendorf’s goal.
One team in the hat for the next round, though, is Cray Wanderers.
First-half goals from Rhys Murrell-Williamson and Charlie Allen gave Cray a 2-0 lead at Whitehawk. Freddie Parker sealed a 3-0 success with four minutes left.
