Folkestone have learned the outcome of a meeting to determine whether their abandoned match at Wingate & Finchley should be replayed.
The Isthmian Premier game was called off following a head injury to Wingate goalkeeper Prince Adegoke, with the score 3-3 in the 83rd minute.
Almost four weeks on from the August 17 fixture, it’s been decided the result will stand.
A Folkestone statement said: “An emergency committee of the Isthmian League has decided after reading the written submissions from each club and the match referee, the result of the match will stand.
“The match was abandoned following an injury to the Wingate & Finchley goalkeeper in the 83rd minute with the score at 3-3.
“The result moves Invicta up one place in the Isthmian Premier Division standings to 13th after six games.
“Folkestone Invicta Football Club will make no further comment.”
Invicta had fought back from 3-1 down thanks to two goals from captain and defender Ian Gayle.
Speaking after the abandonment, Gayle was happy for the result to stand.
“I’d like to keep my two goals, thank you very much!” he said.
“As a defender, you do get opportunities to score but, to get two at the start of the season, it really helps because, mentally, I have a goals target in my head. So, I’d rather take the two goals.
“We didn’t lose - that’s the main thing - and we can always try to chase the rest of the league because it’s still early on.”
