Folkestone Invicta hoping to avoid a third straight defeat to Ramsgate when the Kent rivals meet in the FA Trophy
00:00, 15 October 2014
Folkestone hit the FA Trophy trail this weekend and they’re looking to avoid a third defeat to local rivals Ramsgate this season.
The Rams beat Invicta 2-0 in the league meeting at Southwood in August and knocked them
out of the Robert Dyas League Cup on penalties earlier this month.
Neil Cugley’s side are therefore playing for local pride just as much as the £2,500 prize money on offer in Saturday’s preliminary round tie.
"We’re hurt from those games because we lost both times," Folkestone boss Cugley said.
"You never want to lose to the same team twice in one season.
"We’ve got to start being more professional because we need to get results at these sort of places.
"There’s a few bob in it, so it’s good financially and you want to get through a few rounds.
"The longer you can stay in it, the more it helps the club."
Micheal Everitt is a doubt for the clash at Southwood, the midfielder having been forced out of Saturday’s 3-0 win at Horsham with a groin injury.
