Josh Kennedy's scheduled bout with Jason Cunningham has been confirmed as a British title eliminator by the British Boxing Board of Control.
The decision means the winner of their contest in Doncaster on May 11 will be granted a shot at the super bantamweight British title.
Brad Foster currently occupies the belt on the back of his unanimous points victory over Yorkshire veteran Josh Wale in March.

"Pleased to announce my fight against Jason Cunningham on May 11th has just been confirmed as a British title eliminator," said Kennedy on social media.
"Every British boxer's dream to win the Lonsdale Belt, and that dream is two fights away for me."
Kennedy (11-1) is eyeing a winning return to the ring having suffered the first defeat of his professional career against Tyrone McCullagh back in October.
Two-time Commonwealth champion Cunningham (24-6) likewise enters the fight on the back of a loss after being beaten on points by Michael Conlan at the Manchester Arena in December.
"I think my boxing skills are better than his, so I’m looking forward to another win," admitted Kennedy.
"He’s been in there with some quality opponents so I can’t take anything away from him, but he doesn’t like to be pushed back and for my weight division I feel I’m one of the strongest in Britain. There’s no-one stronger than me at super bantamweight, I’m chucking three times my own weight around in the gym when I’m doing strength and conditioning.
"When Jason Cunningham is given the opportunity to come forward and use his jab he looks really good, but at the moment when he gets pushed back he starts to panic. I’m going to come forward and push him back and that’s how I’m going to dictate the fight."
