Sibton Park’s dream became reality on Sunday when they beat Miskin Manor to reach the final of the National Village Cup.

Park skipper Steven Rowe described the moment his side took the final wicket in the penultimate over of the semi-final.

He said: "It was genuine relief and absolute joy. You work hard to achieve a goal and in this competition, the goal is to get to Lord’s.

"We’ll be trying to win it but we’re going to enjoy the experience. For us, Sunday was a mini-final. It was euphoria which kicked in pretty much straight away.

"We didn’t bat as well as we have done in this competition at the top but we had some good contributions from guys lower down to get us to 146.

"It was probably 30-40 short of what we wanted but in a big knockout game, that can sometimes look a lot bigger to a chasing team.

"We knew that if we bowled well early and got a few wickets in the first 10 overs, we’d give ourselves a chance and that’s exactly what happened.

"They would have needed 10 to win off the last over but we made sure we had clear heads. You need to be flat out, 100% but also keep a clear mind.

"It can be hard and sometimes mistakes happen but we managed to keep our cool and we’ve got through."
