Neil Cugley has taken on the role of director of football at Folkestone Invicta.

He'll continue as first-team manager for the 2014-15 season, combining the job with non-football commitments at the Fullicks Stadium.

Cugley, who's approaching his 900th game in charge of Invicta, has worked more closely with the club's board of directors during some tough times in recent years.

And he was announced as director of football by company secretary Jim Pellatt at an open meeting in the club's Wilf Armory Suite on Wednesday evening.

"I was quite chuffed," Cugley said. "In the last couple of years, or maybe a little bit longer, I’ve had to get more involved in the finances.

"Two years ago, we literally had nobody left. Everybody had walked out and all we had left was a tax bill. I got more and more involved and it went on from that. They were inviting me to meetings anyway and it was just linking into that, really."

So what does the role actually entail?

Cugley said: "I’m picking up money for season tickets, doing all the contracts, getting all the forms signed for the secretaries, sorting out the friendlies.

"I do a lot of things that I’ve always done for the last few years and obviously now, I link up with Jim, big-time, to make sure we haven’t got to cut wages later in the year."

It was also announced that Mr Pellatt will serve as the club's chief executive, and that the club are up to date with their CVA payments, the last of which should be made in February 2015.

Dave Darlow has joined the Invicta board as a full director, while Cliff Egan is set to become more heavily involved at the club, serving as director of sales and marketing.
